Stayed awake all night. Late afternoon, walked with Kate to Brick Lane. A group of French boys were shoving each other and laughing. Streets crowded with people wearing beige rain coats. Signs please me.
Rough Trade east record store makes me smile, also. Lots of merchandise. I held the Bon Scott action figure. Bon Scott was the original singer for the band AC/DC and sang ‘Highway to Hell.” He died and was replaced by Brian Johnson who sang “Back in Black.” I did not see a Brian Johnson action figure.
The wall of “Rough Trade Essentials” made my eyebrows go up: so many incredible records! The Strokes “This Is It,” Belle and Sebastian “If You’re Feeling Sinister”, REM “Automatic for the People.”
I smiled at the book selection too. I did not buy any.
Kate and I went to Cafe 1001 and ordered two black Americanos. I had a zoom meeting with Nick to discuss ticketing software for improv theaters.
That night, I performed at The Free Association improv theater. I hosted the “The Improv Class: The Show” which is a version of “Hines I’m Prov To Meet You” podcast I do for CBB World. Megan McCarthy took a photo of the beginning.
The characters were: an ex-mayor (Brian Jack), pregnant sad woman (Helen Duff), a rapper (Robert Gilbert), a professor (Jonathan Broke).
Before our show I watched the four person group Groundhog and laughed a lot. After the shows, we went down to the De Beauvaoir Arms pub. I talked with a mathematician, two improvisers and someone’s mom. We discussed television, improv theaters and America.
